  • Topou takes data privacy seriously.  We recognise and value the trust that individuals place in us when providing us with personal information and we are taking reasonable steps to safeguard the privacy and secure personal information we may collect from visitors to our websites, or through the services provide.

  • The Protection Of Personal Information Act of 2013(POPIA) was passed to promote the right to protection of personal information stipulated in the Constitution of South Africa. The Act seeks to set standards that will regulate the use and processing of personal information.

  • The POPI Act defines Personal Information means information relating to an identifiable, living, natural person, and where it is applicable, an identifiable, existing juristic person.

  • The protection of personal information does not mean that the organisation will protect personal information all the time. Personal information must flow freely for society to function. A balance between the free flow and the protection of personal information is needed. The Act stipulates that an organisation must be transparent and open about how they process personal information,

  • Topou collects your information for the reason of providing IT services to you. We will collect only what is needed to provide the service. We have no other reason to store, process or disseminate your information. Our reasons include business development purposes, for R & D purposes, to contract our services, to fulfil our legal, regulatory, or risk management obligations and to ensure we get paid.

  • In our technologically connected world today, sometimes it is necessary to share information with our services providers to ensure you receive the service you require. Some of these services providers include our cloud providers, our professional advisers, our network of service delivery agents. Each third-party service provider must also comply with the POPI Act and where appropriate, EU and UK data protection laws.

  • We will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which this information was collected and any other permitted linked purpose, for example as long and you use our software, and we are required to support the software.

  • The Information that you provide to us is stored on our or our service providers’ secure servers and accessed and used subject to our security policies and standards, or those agreed with our service providers.

  • You have a right not to share the information as set out above but in that instance, we cannot offer you, our services. You may contact us to enquire what information of yours we hold. You also have the right to correct your information or to request us to delete the information, unless the law states that we must hold the information.
